Details:
This Bentley Turbo S was completed on the 2nd of November 1994, finished in Racing Green with Sandstone hide, Spruce piping, Conifer carpets bound in Sandstone, and dark walnut woodwork throughout. It was shipped new to Michael Powles Ltd and registered to its first owner, R. Cowley of Sowden & Co, Tudor Road, Leicester.
It was owned by the Earl Cadogan for 15 years and remained in the UK until he passed away in 2023. It was then imported into Ireland, after being acquired from his estate. During his ownership, the Bentley was fastidiously maintained with documented work totalling over £37,000—including new head gaskets, a full suspension overhaul, and several other mechanical and cosmetic improvements.
This particular Turbo S is number 52 of just 60. In the beginning, a production of 75 cars was planned. The numbered plates on the engine take that into account. However, only 60 cars were built, but the numbered plates were already made. As such, this car states number 52 of 75, however in reality, it is 52 of 60.
The Turbo S was officially produced for select European, Middle Eastern, and Asian markets only. Of those 60, just 29 were right-hand drive, making this an exceptionally rare car. It was Bentley’s swansong for the Turbo era - a final, forceful expression before the introduction of the Arnage - with upgraded performance. This included:
Liquid-cooled intercooler together with an engine management system derived from cutting-edge Formula One technology
Bosch engine management
A revised induction system.
A Garrett AirResearch turbocharged 6.75 litre V8 with liquid-cooled intercooler, producing 402 bhp and 616 lb/ft.
Other upgrades over the Turbo R included:
A higher front bumper with integrated air dam and shorter radiator shell.
Continental R's 17-inch vented aluminium alloy wheels and 255/55WR17 tyres and rear faring.
Discrete motif on the walnut waistrail.
New, deeply bolstered sports seats
Numbered plates on the engine
The power delivery is effortless and smooth, and the ride - thanks to its refurbished suspension - is everything one would expect of a hand-built Bentley from Crewe. The car sits on original 17-inch Continental R alloy wheels and features a higher front bumper with an integrated air dam and the distinctive Turbo S rear fairing. Chrome work, lights, and glass are all in exceptional condition.
Inside, the car is a masterclass in understated British luxury. The dark-stained walnut trim is beautifully preserved, and it retains its original green leather dashboard and sandstone headliner. Unusual for the period, the car has a rear-mounted concealed phone and a retro-styled Blaupunkt Bremen SQR 46 DAB radio with Bluetooth and Auxiliary functionality, making the car even more practical without detracting from its original charm.
All of the usual Bentley refinements are present: heated, fully electric memory front seats, C-pillar vanity mirrors, and deeply bolstered sports seating unique to the Turbo S. The attention to detail throughout the cabin is nothing short of exquisite.
The car has covered just 77,000 miles from new and is supplied with an extraordinary file of documentation. This includes every invoice from its 30-year lifespan, the original owner's manuals, the Turbo S supplement, build sheet, and extensive paperwork from Phantom Motors, who carried out a “Global Overhaul” in 2018 at a cost of £37,000. Since arriving in Ireland, a further €60,000 has been invested to ensure the car remains in mechanically perfect condition.
To Conclude
The Turbo S is not merely a limited edition Bentley - it’s a symbol of a moment in time when the brand chose performance and exclusivity over mass production. It has no predecessor or direct successor. It was never intended to sell in high numbers. And today, few models carry its combination of rarity, performance, and opulence.
A fantastic opportunity to acquire a unique car with a notable ownership history, a remarkable service history, that is in brilliant condition.
